No, not George W.. A question of miracles... America's founding father, Thomas Jefferson, edited his own version of the Bible, cutting and pasting the essential moral & religious principles of Christianity from his personal Bible into a book of his own, and excluding all the Biblical stories of miracles. What if CNN reported the Parting of the Red Sea tomorrow?

THE BURNING BUSH
It’s a tall tall tale, and a very short story..
I took a stroll last night..
Looked up the trail, right there before me..
was a strange and beckoning light..
Call me a liar, but from the fire, a voice spoke plain as day..
In Biblical times, this sort of thing was fine,
But if you heard it on the news today..
The burning bush.. calling out my name..
The burning bush.. no science can explain..
The burning bush.. a talking tongue of flame..
Swear to you that it’s all true, but it still sounds insane..
Walked up on a burning bush, out in the wilderness..
To my surprise, a voice said “Hi”,
By God Almighty this bush was possessed..
To ease my fear and trepidation..
He told a good joke, before the revelation..
Now I get big money on the lecture tour!
The burning bush, said go forth and spread his Word..
The burning bush.. CNN called it absurd..
The burning bush.. This shrub’s my claim to fame..
Why me, not you?’s a question only God can explain..
(He works in mysterious ways.. Father knows best..)
“Walking on water” would’ve been real cool..
But one miracle is better than none..
Though “parting the sea”, as a general rule,
Is as impressive as they come..
“Resurrection” takes the cake..
A dead man walking is hard to fake..
But I still had my day in the sun..
With the burning bush..

I've posted some barely adequate recordings here, many bad writer's renditions, of a few songs I've written in my life.
Most of my songs never recorded, likely never will be. No matter, just mutterings to myself. I'm a lyricist who believes that language is a dog chasing it's tail. Didn't immerse into human life as I probably should've, or perhaps I immersed too much. The dark births the light....more
