The word "Alternity" was created by a 16 year old kid I knew in the late 70's, Shawn Mahoney. Though not the first with the concept, perhaps the first to describe it's summation in a word. A Philosophy/Religion major at the time, his new word inspired me to explore this concept through music. (even named my boat ALTERNITY). It's an old song, a bit dated, but I still am fascinated with the possibilities..

Take me away on a mystical journey, to places I’ve never seen or believed to be true..
Slip past the guards of my asylum..
Open the gates made of steel and of irony, to worlds never conceived I would have to pass through.. Where did we come from?,,
Is there an order assigning arrangement? Is there a morning that dawns on derangement?
Can’t see the sun through the clouds of deception.. only the heavenly fingers of light reaching through…

Revealing reflections, of some diving joke through the cigarette smoke..
Wandering deflections of a universal mind…
Concealing perceptions, Would you care to play chess?.., Would you rather undress?..
Pondering inceptions..of which mountain we’ll climb…
And what we might find..
Apprehended, suspended in time…

There are those of you, who think you’ve found the answer..
I’ve been told the answer’s just a question in drag..
There are those of you whose muse is sought with inner vision..
But if unity defines division.. weren’t you told that the genius was mad…
Only borrowed time… take me away…
Lonely sorrowed minds, take me today…
